Profile
Johannes Westermeyer is a researcher and lecturer at the Institute of Economic and Social Geography at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne since 2019.
His current research interests include multinational companies, foreign direct investment, local embeddedness, knowledge, skills, international strategy and management. He regularly participates in national and international conferences.
In addition to his research activities, his responsibilities include the conception and teaching of various courses at Bachelor's and Master's level (including excursions) as well as the assessment of Bachelor's and Master's theses. He is also actively involved in various other areas of the institute.
From 2019 to 2023, he worked at the Institute as part of the project ‘Multinational companies and local knowledge base - An evolutionary perspective: Regional variants of initial vocational education and training activities in Germany’ funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). In 2020 he supported Prof. Dr. Martina Fuchs in her role as Gender Equality Officer at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences.
Johannes Westermeyer received his M.Sc. in Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security from the Joint Master's Programme of the Institute for Environment and Human Security of the United Nations University (UNU-EHS) and the Institute of Geography of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn (GIUB). Previously, Johannes Westermeyer received his B.Sc. in Geography from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. He also studied at University College London (UCL).
